Sophie Divry - The Library of Unrequited Love

One morning a librarian finds a reader who has been locked in overnight.
She starts to talk to him, a one-way conversation that soon gathers pace as an outpouring of frustrations, observations and anguishes. Two things shine through: her shy, unrequited passion for a quiet researcher named Martin, and an ardent and absolute love of books.

A delightful flight of fancy for the lonely bookworm in all of us…

Hmm... vajon mi is lenne a jó szó erre a könyvre: megbánás? pénzpocsékolás? nonszensz? Nem tudom, talán mindhárom jól kifejezi, mit érzek most éppen.

Ezért vagyok bajban ezzel a könyvvel.

"Going into the library is nothing more or less than getting back onto your mummy's lap. Yes, like Mummy, the library gives you a magic kiss and everything's better. Love life in ruins? Hate everyone? Despair over the state of the planet? Headache? Insomnia? Indigestion? Corns? I cann tell you, there's nothing the library can't cure."

"Poor woman: she's never read a book in her life."

"Book and reader, if they meet up at the right moment in a person's life, it can make sparks fly, set you alight, change your life"

"All the hundreds of books pouring off the presses, ninety-nine per cent of them they'd do better to use the paper for wrapping takeaways."

"Even today, two hundred years after Robespierre, a library is still a bit of a gloomy place. Oh, don't try and tell me different. Listen, you might meet someone on the way to the cinema, or the restaurant, or the swimming pool, or a café, looking happy, that's normal. But have you ever heard people in the street saying things like: „I'm going to spend the day in the library, yippee!” "Oh, fantastic, you lucky thing!""

"On the bus, I see all these zombies. One with his iPod, another on his mobile, number three fiddling with his tablet. None of these morons reads a book on the bus. Never. That would be too much effort."

"When I'm reading, I can forget everything."

"You're never alone if you live surrounded by books."
